What is TaínoApp

TaínoApp is service that allows you to bring your existing WordPress^© Blog to mobile devices, by providing a native mobile application that you can manage from within your WordPress^© Admin. TaínoApp requires no special skills and you don’t need to learn or do anything different during the administration of your current WordPress^© installation.

Why Taíno?

Taínos were the native indians of the Caribbean, and we love the Caribbean. Our logo depicts the Taíno Coquí, a small frog that is native/endemic of the island of Puerto Rico.

Is TaínoApp similar to other WordPress^© Plug-ins that automatically generate a mobile-friendly version of your website?

No. TaínoApp is totally different. Your App is 100% native. We do not generate an HTML version of your website and host it inside a Web View or Web Browser like other solutions or plugins. We establish a rich communication protocol with your website in order to obtain data in a raw format, and then display it using NATIVE controls.

What are the benefits of TaínoApp

As a WordPress^© Blog owner, you know that you need to bring traffic into your blog. However, most likely your visitors have a smartphone or mobile device of some kind. Although your visitors may access your Blog from a mobile web browser, native apps provide a better integration with the mobile device, in ways web apps can’t. Native apps also provide better metrics and increased brand loyalty. With TaínoApp, you will provide your Blog visitors with a easier and more convenient way to read your content, through user interfaces that are native to the platform they’re using.

On which platforms is TaínoApp available

TaínoApp is currently available on iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, and Windows Phone 7. It will be available soon iPad optimized, on Blackberry, Symbian, and other operating systems.

What do I need to have a TaínoApp

To have a TaínoApp, you simply need to have a WordPress^© Blog. We will provide you with a WordPress^© plugin-in which will establish a proprietary protocol to communicate with your Blog. This communication is entirely read-only.

Do I need to be a registered developer on the different Application Markets?

No. TaínoApp Applications are submited on your behalf using TaínoApp’s developer account. Special arrangements can be made if the client wishes to submit the TaínoApp using his/her own developer account.

How long does it takes for a TaínoApp to be ready?

In most scenarios, your TaínoApp will be ready for submission to the selected Application Markets within a week. In the case of the iTunes AppStore, there’s a longer waiting time, as applications will need to go through a thorough revision process.

Is TaínoApp only available for WordPress^©?

Yes. Currently it is only available for WordPress^©. However, a version of the plug-in is being developed for Joomla! users, and eventually for other content management systems such as TypePad and Tumblr.

Can I include Ads on my Apps?

The option of displaying Ads on TaínoApp is currently under development.

Can my App be sold on the App Markets?

Currently, TaínoApp is designed to be provided as a free service, just like your Blog. In the future, we will examine the posibilities of providing in-app purchases for premium content.
